Wood Group GTS awarded two-year contract extension for operations and maintenance of peaking plant in Connecticut

3-November-2011
HOUSTON, November 3, 2011—Wood Group GTS has been awarded a two-year contract extension by the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative (CMEEC) for operations and maintenance of the Alfred L. Pierce Generating Station located in Wallingford, Connecticut. The initial contract was awarded in 2007.

Originally commissioned as a coal-fired plant with 22.5 megawatts of total output, the Pierce Generating Station has since been converted to a state-of-the-art natural gas-fired plant utilizing a GE Frame 7EA gas turbine with fast-start capability, supporting a total capacity of 85 megawatts. CMEEC utilizes the Pierce Station as a peaking plant to effectively provide a real-time market volatility hedge in the ISO-NE market.

Frank Avery of Wood Group GTS commented, “Customer retention is a key objective for our business and we are very pleased to have been awarded this contract extension by CMEEC. We look forward to continuing our long-term relationship and building on our reputation for delivering the highest quality operations and maintenance services.”
