Wood Group GTS completes hot gas path capital parts contract for Formosa Plastics Facility in Point Comfort, TX

8-December-2011
Wood Group GTS has completed a contract to supply hot gas path capital parts to Formosa Plastics Corporation.  These critical spares are designed and manufactured under Wood Group GTS’ Advanced Parts Manufacture (APM®) programme and were fitted to a GE Frame 7EA gas turbine located at Point Comfort, Texas. The contract is valued at over $2.7 million.

Through its APM® programme, Wood Group GTS has established a market leading position supplying alternative parts for GE Frame gas turbines including the 7EA model. Over the past 10 years, hundreds of sets of hot gas path components have been successfully installed, demonstrating excellent performance and reliability in essential power generation and process applications.

Harlan Specht of Formosa Plastics commented, “Formosa Plastics’ Point Comfort site is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the US and we rely on our gas turbines to support the manufacturing process.”

“We understand the importance placed by Formosa Plastics on the reliability of their power plant to business operations. Wood Group GTS maintains an extensive inventory of APM® parts, enabling us to meet this requirement from stock. This critical spares programme is one element within our portfolio of products and services designed to lower the total cost of ownership for gas turbine operators” said Frank Avery of Wood Group GTS
